About Meryl

When I was six years old and we were told to pick a dream career, I was very frustrated I had to pick one. I wanted to be a ballerina and an astronaut. This desire to create my own path and combine my interests  has proved to be very present in my work.

In 2017, I began pursuing a B.A. in Theatre at Northeastern University. I had the lovely opportunity to play Irina in The Three Sisters and Sabina in The Skin of Our Teeth before the pandemic hit and it became clear that theatre would be difficult to take part in for a while. I decided to switch gears. I spent my downtime in the pandemic learning to sew, as I had always loved fashion but had never had the time to refine my skills. This led me to become interested in using my own experiences to develop fashion designs. I've also always loved clothing; most of my childhood memories involve dressing up or making halloween costumes with my mom.

I also have loved photography since I received a camera when I was 15 (although, I used to steal my moms camera when I was five. I have some lovely blurry photos of my bratz backpack at the time to prove it).

Despite having many artistic interests, they all intersect at storytelling. I am intrigued about how art of many mediums can be used to inspire the everyday person to action; I think that is the job of the artist. Post-grad, I plan on taking the summer to travel across Europe and Asia to figure out what I want from life, talk to new people, and see things I could've never dreamed of, filling up my pot of inspiration for my next project.
